Kris Kessels, Senior Researcher Energy markets from VITO – EnergyVille is Work Package (WP) 5 coordinator and has written an article addressing the Smart Design of Flexibility Markets as the essential piece of the DSO puzzle.
Within the EUniversal project, we lead the work on innovative market mechanisms for DSO grid services. In particular, we are focusing on the design of a flexibility market mainly targeted towards congestion alleviation and voltage control.
Within the project structure, WP5 is dedicated to design and assess innovative market mechanisms for the procurement and activation of a selection of grid services for the Distribution Systems Operator , led by the increase of the options to operate the distribution grid in a secure and stable manner at an affordable cost through the use of flexibility from Distributed Energy Resources.
